Deco thrived as a creative playmaker, helping his respective clubs and the national team achieve significant success.
Deco made himself known to world football while playing for Porto, scoring in the 2003 - 2004 UEFA Champions League final alongside a Man of the Match performance to help the team win the competition.
He then moved to Barcelona and won the Champions League again during the 2005 - 2006 season, before moving to Chelsea and Fluminense.
For Portugal, Deco helped the team achieve a runner-up finish at the 2004 UEFA European Championship, as well as a fourth-place finish at the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
